First off I want to thank each and every person who took the time to enter the "Free Training Essay Contest". I consider each of the 18 essays I've received to be an indication of your support toward my new endeavor as a business owner. In addition, I consider each essay to be a sign of dedication. The fact that you all took the time to write and submit an essay means you're serious about making a change in 2011 and making a commitment to finally achieve the goals you set out to reach. Don't let not getting chosen as the winner discourage you. I wish I could have chosen 15 winners! (This omits those of you who think that just because you're my coolest friends you should not have to pay me for training.) Haha ;)
The essay I chose ended up being the very first essay I received. Parts of this essay hit home to me and I really feel as though this woman deserves to do something positive for herself. I'm not only looking forward to helping her achieve her physical goals for 2011. I'm hoping that our training can benefit her emotionally and help her to overcome a 2010 that most of us couldn't imagine getting through.
The winning essay reads as follows:
"Hello Jess , I heard about you from Jackie Haight who thought, because of my sense of humor, I'd be a great candidate for this promotion. Unfortunately, my sense of humor is a little challenged these days due to the amount of stress I'm going through. What has suffered.....my body. No sob story here just truth and how it is effecting me physically. I'm 54 years old. I look younger from the waist up and older from the waist down. I used to be fit, thin and energetic. I'm now feeling old, fat and out of shape. I don't want to be "just thin," I want to be healthy. I had a very dear friend die in January, my sister died in August and now my father is dying at Mt. Carmel East. My mother is moving in with me and my family and I'm eating my way through every trial. Perhaps some personal training and a swift kick in the butt by you will help me get on the right track. Thanks for considering me."
